Rules and Expectations of Semester

Expectations – Hours, Dues, and Excuses

Hours (per semester):

  • 4 Service Hours
  • 4 Education Hours

Excuses (per semester):

  • 2 Excused Meetings (School, Emergency)
  • 2 Unexcused Meetings (Personal issues, Work)

Dues (per semester):

  • Active Member: $20, New member: $10

Expectations: Conference & CPE

Conference:

  • Each member will be required to attend one conference during 2014-2015 year

o Missouri Public Health Conference

o MOAPHERD

o Meeting of the Minds

o SLU Public Scholar Bowl and Case Study Team

Attire:

  • Each member will be required to purchase formal SPHA attire

o Polo

o Cardigan

What happens if I don’t meet expectations?

  • If you do not complete required hours, you will no longer be a member of SPHA

oAll hours must be submitted by December 5th (Friday before finals)

  • Treasurer will set date for dues.

o Must be paid on that date or you will be charged a fine for each additional week, plus will be meeting with President

SPHA Capstone Grant

  • Grant Application will be available online by Friday

o Due on October 1st

  • Three weeks away
  • Exec will look over application and decide monetary amount that will be given

o General body vote will occur at general meeting afterward

  • If interested in receiving grant for 440 capstone project please see me after meeting

  • Sept. 23 – 25 in Columbia, Mo

o SPHA will be attending Sept. 24th

  • Leaving at 7:00 am
  • Back in Kirksville by 6:00 pm
  • Cost: $50 per person

oIncludes breakfast, lunch and registration fee

  • may need to pay more depending on gas cost
